Fall Classic Final Game Draws 51 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting extra-inning matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a aggregate over 50 million watchers in the US, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB reported this marks the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game averaged 27.33M viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a 16% increase over the previous finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked 4th, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 was eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth place.

International Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game averaged 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12M. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – recorded over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a single network in Japan.

Series Totals and Trends

The entire seven-game series drew 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the total US viewership reached 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and the network’s strongest playoff ratings after 2017.

MLB announced that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen various tongues.
