Assassin's Creed Introduces Surprising AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that defies conventional predictions, the game developer has unveiled an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Disclosed
According to the authorized release, "A strange meeting pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where hints of banned practices and monstrous transformations reverberate through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a secret sect.
The mission centers on "strange trials and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Changes
The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Content
Players who finish the quest will obtain an exclusive katana together with several objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Update
This release also brings the game's third free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

The series formerly included a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
